FAQs
Yes. To rent a Storage Unit, customers must have legal capacity and therefore be legally recognized as an adult. In New Zealand, this is limited to persons 18 years and over.
Payment of rental fees is via Bank Transfer (Automatic Payment/Direct Credit).
There are items/materials which may not be stored on our premises due to legal/safety/hygiene reasons. These include liquids, flammable substances/combustibles, explosive, radioactive or toxic materials, munitions and perishables (organic materials). Our Terms and Conditions also prohibit the storage of items that are either; irreplaceable or exceeding a dollar value of $NZD2000.00 in aggregate, unless specifically itemized on the Storer's personal contents insurance policy. Illegal or unlawfully acquired items are prohibited. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.
All contracts have a notice period of three business days to the end of the rental period/billing cycle.
We pride ourselves on being responsive to client needs and flexible where it counts. That means you have the flexibility to store for as little as one week, or for longer term as required.

Yes. Please advise our office via email when your Unit is cleaned and ready for inspection. On your departure, please take all of your belongings, and remove your lock.
Renting a site from us is easy. Sites for individually-owned units are subject to availability and may be leased on a monthly basis for as little as $165 per calendar month, GST inclusive. We have the best deals on space in Tauranga at Storage Container Guys, 11 Hynds Road Greerton.
Self Storage leases are written as private rental agreements, which means only the Renter/Lessee named on the contract is legally entitled to access the Unit. When the Lessee dies, control of the Unit and responsibility for the account falls to the deceased's estate - usually the Executor of the will, or if no will exists, then a court appointed administrator. Storage operators have a contractual obligation to protect the rights and privacy of clients even in death, so it is a requirement to provide legal documents supporting your authority to act on behalf of a deceased or permanently disabled person. Examples of such documents can be letters testamentary or Power of Attorney (in cases of severe disability). Once the proper documents have been provided, Storage Container Guys works closely with the family/their representative to grant access and settle accounts. Renters themselves can ease the burden on those left behind by including their Storage Unit in their estate planning documents. Supplying an itemized list of contents and account information to an executor can prevent confusion and make things easier on the family, financially and emotionally, during a difficult time.
We provide the Storage Space, but cannot assist with logistics. This means that you, as the customer, are responsible for the storage and retrieval of goods to/from your Storage Unit. If you need to coordinate access for commercial movers or third parties, this is easily arranged with a phone call to us. We do offer our Trailer for local move-ins within the Greerton area. This is subject to T&Cs and availability. Please enquire with our office to book.

See our 'Tips for Storage and Packing' page for guidance on this topic. Prepare your space with drop sheets or a cover as an added protection. When storing fabrics, textiles and carpets, please ensure these are fully clean and dry when stored. We strongly recommend protecting these soft furnishings with padded blankets and plastic covers, and using some form of protection against pest infestation. Our Units are cleaned and treated between use as a preventative measure, but you can take simple steps to ensure textiles remain in the condition in which they have been stored. Refrigerators should be fully cleaned and defrosted and stored on a Styrofoam base or pallet with the door slightly ajar. Use strong, fit-for-purpose boxes of similar size and weigh these to ensure you don't overload/underload each. Uniformly-sized boxes with similar weights will stack more securely. Try to leave a little space between the Unit walls and the boxes for airflow, and create a little aisle at the centre to allow for easy access to all areas inside the Unit. Metal items such as bicycles should be treated with oil or a lubricant to ensure these don't rust. Store items you require least access to at the rear of the Unit. Be sure to label all four sides of your boxes and number for inventory lists. A full inventory of stored goods should be kept in a safe, easily accessible location.
